The year 2020 brings a new record in the applications of the App Store. During coronavirus lockdown, people found different mobile applications to entertain themselves while at home to keep them away from boredom.
This growing trend in mobile applications shows that iOS app development companies are focusing more on designing exotic mobile applications. This helps them in designing more innovative and smart iOS mobile apps.
And as per analytics data, the use of mobile applications has increased all of a sudden from the last few months. React Native System is a popular mobile application development technology that has gained popularity since its launch in 2015.
Let’s Check The Detailed Data by Analytics Firm Sensor Tower
As per Sensor Tower, 2020 is a record-setting year worldwide, especially when it comes to application development. All manufacturers spent a lot on mobile apps and games development. As per their estimation, the amount was about $100 billion in a single year for the first time in November.
According to preliminary Sensor Tower Store Intelligence, consumers spent about $407.6 million across Apple’s App Store and Google Play for app development.
Here’s the official statement made by Sensor Tower- Mobile spending during the Christmas festival is about 4.5 percent of the month’s total expenditure. This is supposed to have reached almost $9 billion globally from December 1 to December 27. Mainly the holiday spending was done on mobile games, which raises 27 per cent from $232.4 million on Christmas 2019 to $295.6 million in 2020.
Games are Considered Superior Over Other Entertainment Categories
There are about $19.3 million entertainment apps on the App Store. Out of which, 21.8 percent of all was expanded on non-game applications. Google Play has a total of $4.3 million applications for users’ entertainment or 18.5% of all revenue generated.
Apart from mobile games, TikTok also gained popularity in terms of consumer spending, with total revenue of $4.7 million that was generated globally on Christmas.
Though many Android devices gain more popularity than iOS ones, iOS apps generate the most revenue.
Some shocking data came when a direct comparison between Apple’s App Store and Google Play is made. It indicates about 68.4 per cent or $278.6 million expenditure is done through iOS. Google Play saw $129 million in revenue, which results in about 33 percent of sharing.
Probable Reasons for The Hike in iOS Revenue
Due to many advanced features, such as easy-to-use and compatibility, people prefer to use iOS applications. Many Android app development companies lack some advanced features, such as mobility, collaboration, and enterprise management applications.
Many developers are supposed to get more of their App Store revenue from the holidays, as Apple charges them the halved 15% commission rate earlier. This rate is higher than the expected start date of January 1st. Apple also announced its surprise U-turn back in November in a brilliant move to fend off antitrust action.
